A native of Raceland and a resident of Houma, La., passed away on March 7, 2016.

A musical well be held Friday March 18, 2016 from 6 PM to 9 PM at New Sunlight Baptist Church, Raceland, LA. Visitation is on Saturday March 19, 2016 from 1:00 PM until funeral service at New Sunlight Baptist Church. Burial to follow in New Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery

Poet and Author, Born- November 23, 1976 -entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in San Antonio, Tx.

“Shawnna” was a Health and Human Resources employee with the State of Texas. She was a native of New Orleans, La., an alumna of John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1994 and she attended Nicholls State University. She was the Beloved daughter of Claville Reado and the late Verna Price Reado. Mother of Roshstroven Reado and Roshawn Allen. Grandmother of Ja’Mya and Ra’Nya Reado. Sister of Raymond Sr., Roderick Sr., Ronnie Sr, and Ryant Price Sr, (Lisa),  Rontraniece Johnson Theard, Resznay Johnson Skinner, Raquzemas, Ramel Sr., and the late Rory Johnson, Missy Mosely, Mellissa Poindexter, Jacquline Ratcliff, and Tameka Castle.

Octavia Scott Batiste

Octavia Scott Batiste was born on March 14, 1941, to the parentage of Oscar Sr. and Mariah Milton of Convent, LA. She departed this life on February 5, 2015. She was 73 years old. She was an employee of Holiday Inn for 32 years.

Octavia leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Pamela (Lawrence) Batiste-Kennedy of Geismar, LA, and Hania Batiste of Gonzales, LA; two sons, Lee Paul Batiste and Kurt Batiste both of Geismar, LA. Six grandchildren – LaKeisha (Calvin) Batiste, LaShonda (Terrell) Browden, Ronnie Popularas Jr., Rhondalon Popularas, and Jasmine Carter, all of Gonzales, LA, and De'Brian Carter of Geismar LA.; five great-grandchildren: Jaris Jackson, Jordan Batisite, Jayden Lemon, Erin Williams and Londyn Carter all of Gonzales, LA; seven sisters, three brothers; three sisters-in-law along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
