Gerald Smith was born on April 13, 1957 in Union, Louisiana to the parentage of Albert and Victoria Douglas Smith. On June 13, 2025 God called him home.

He accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Donaldsonville, LA by Rev. Dr. James Dorsey,Sr.

Gerald was a retired laborer from St James Parish.

Gerald leaves to cherish his life and memories; his daughters Chevon Earl and Nicole Lemon. His sister, Eunice Sipp, New Orleans, LA, Brothers: Albert (Venita) Smith, Donaldsonville, LA and Benjamin Smith, Sr, Convent. LA; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Victoria Douglas Smith, his sisters: Margaret Smith Elder, Eunice Shirley Smith, Rosa Lee Douglas Cushenberry; his brothers: Albert Smith, III, Matthew Smith, Lawrence Smith, Albert Smith, Jr and Michael Douglas, Sr.
