Rev. Matherne "Lonnie" Johnson Sr. departed this life peacefully at his home in Belle Rose, La on November 1, 2024. Rev. Matherne Johnson Sr. was the pastor of Morning Star B.C. of Houma, La where he has served for over 40+ years and has been in pastoral leadership for over 60+ years. He graduated from the United Theological Seminary School the Houma Extinction.  He was ordained as a minister of the Gospel by the Union Southern Missionary Baptist Association by the late Rev. Murry J. Alcorn. Rev M.L. Johnson has been a faithful member of the Fifth District Association and the Mount Moriah Lodge #17 of Napoleonville, La for 50 years. He is also a retiree of Grace Equipment of Donaldsonville, La.
